Excellence

First, one quick thing

Which EIC Accelerator route are you preparing for?

Open call is the standard route. Challenge means applying to a specific 2026 EIC challenge topic.

This readiness check is general guidance based on the author's experience evaluating EU proposals. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by the European Commission or the European Innovation Council. For binding rules, always refer to the official EIC Work Programme and Guide for Applicants. Learn how the full EIC Accelerator support works, or read the complete guide.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How is the EIC Accelerator readiness score calculated?

You answer around 20 questions grouped into the three dimensions the EIC evaluates (Excellence, Impact, Implementation) plus interview readiness. For each one you pick No, Partly or Yes, worth 0, half or one point. Your total, and how each dimension scores on its own, places you in one of four readiness bands, mirroring how an evaluator would assess your proposal before you submit.

Do I need to give my email to use the readiness check?

Your total score is free and shown instantly as you answer, no email needed. To unlock the detailed breakdown across Excellence, Impact, Implementation and Interview, the tailored next steps for your band and the self-scoring checklist PDF, you leave your name and email. We add you to our EU funding list and you can unsubscribe anytime.

Is a high score a guarantee of EIC Accelerator funding?

No. The EIC Accelerator is highly competitive: across recent cut-offs only around 5 to 6 percent of applicants are funded. A high readiness score means your project has the prerequisites to compete and is worth a serious application. It does not replace a well-written proposal or interview preparation.
